Counselling

Counselling helps with a current difficulty that requires small steps towards change and overall positive mental wellness.  It is likely to be a short to mid-term process. Counselling works with conscious processes and thoughts. 

We will look at the immediate presenting symptom and behaviour (such as increase in levels of anxiety) and how they impact your day-to-day tasks. Once we have identified these symptoms, we will focus on providing you with a toolbox of coping strategies that can help break out of negative thoughts, feelings, and habits. Typically, CBT and solution focused approaches are used.

  • Anxiety

  • Work related stress

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is an in-depth therapeutic journey, looking at past present and future. Psychotherapy works with conscious, subconscious, and unconscious processes and thoughts. All of which can help to uncover the root cause of difficulties. Psychotherapy is usually a medium to long term process. 


This level of work requires a strong working relationship between the client and therapist, allowing the client to feel safe and contained throughout the exploratory therapeutic work. 


Examples of presenting difficulties:

  • Long periods of anxiety or depression 
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder 
  • Obsessive behaviour
